Lead Barista/Coffee Trailer Operator

1099 Independent Contractor | 20 Hours Per Week |

Position Overview:

The Lead Barista/Coffee Trailer Operator provides specialty coffee service and on-site operational leadership during Brewed with Hope events. Brewed with Hope operates under Community of Hope’s workforce development program Restoration Works. This role ensures beverage quality, safe trailer operation, and a positive customer experience while supporting Community of Hope’s mission and social enterprise goals.

This position is intended to support regular weekly events and provide consistent operational leadership across scheduled Brewed with Hope engagements.

Program Schedule & Engagement Expectations:

Brewed with Hope’s operational goal is to host up to three coffee service events per week, with each event typically lasting four to five hours. Contractors in this role are expected to be available for regular weekly participation aligned with this schedule, subject to event bookings, operational needs, and mutual availability. The program is designed to offer consistent hours up to 20 hours a week during active event weeks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve specialty coffee beverages in accordance with Brewed with Hope quality standards. Training will be provided by COH lead barista’s.

  • Oversee beverage quality, workflow, and customer service during events

  • Coordinate on-site task assignments and service flow

  • Tow, position, secure, and break down the coffee trailer as required

  • Manage event setup and teardown

  • Ensure complains with health department, food safety, and workplace safety requirements

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the service area

Qualifications:

  • Prior barista or food service experience is preferred but not required. COH has trained baristas that will provide training

  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to tow a trailer preferred

  • Complete a serve food safety course requirements to operate the coffee trailer. COH will pay for course and time spent with reimbursement clauses in place should independent contractors not fulfill their role. *This will be covered in employment contract*

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and lead small teams during events

Towing Requirement Notice:

Our 1968 Shasta coffee trailer weighs approximately 2,500 lbs. when fully loaded with water and equipment. Any vehicle used to tow the trailer must have a manufacturer-rated towing capacity of at least 3,000 lbs. to ensure a safe operating margin. Please review your vehicle’s official towing capacity, which can typically be found on the driver-side door jamb sticker or in the owner’s manual.

Community of Hope will provide the appropriate hitch and trailer connection equipment; however, the towing vehicle must meet or exceed the required towing capacity. The individual serving in this role will also be added to Community of Hope’s insurance policy covering the 1968 Shasta coffee trailer.

Independent Contractor Status:

This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position averaging 20 hours per week. The Lead Barista/Coffee Trailer Operator is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and benefits. This role requires self-direction, professional accountability, and results-oriented performance.

Restoration Works Program Lead

Position Overview:

The Restoration Works Program Lead provides strategic and operational leadership for Restoration Works, the workforce development arm of Community of Hope. This role oversees the backend operations, financial stewardship, program growth, marketing strategy, and sponsorship development for both workforce initiatives. The Program Lead works closely with the Chief Goodness Officer to ensure strong financial accountability, budget alignment, sustainable growth, and mission-centered execution across both programs. This is a leadership role requiring initiative, discernment, financial accuracy, and a heart aligned with the Christ-centered mission of Community of Hope. The Program Lead is also expected to attend the Jewelry Program once a month to oversee operations, provide support, and mentor participants, and visit the Brewed With Hope Coffee Trailer as needed to oversee operations and provide support.

Core Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Program Oversight and Backend Management

  • Provide backend operational leadership for both Brewed With Hope and the Jewelry Program

  • Attend the Jewelry Program once per month to oversee operations, support participants, and mentor staff

  • Visit the Brewed With Hope Coffee Trailer to oversee operations and provide support

  • Ensure systems, processes, documentation, and reporting structures are organized and sustainable

  • Oversee scheduling coordination, inventory systems, and vendor relationships

  • Maintain compliance with board approved financial guidelines

  • Ensure both programs operate in alignment with mission and strategic goals

Financial Management and Budget Accountability:

  • Monitor monthly financial reporting for both programs. These reports are provided by our CPA.

  • Monitor income, expenses, and profit margins

  • Work directly with the Chief Goodness Officer to prepare future program budgets

  • Assist in forecasting revenue growth and expense planning

  • Support long-term financial sustainability strategies

Marketing and Sponsorship Development:

  • Support marketing team in strategies for both enterprises to ensure mission integrity

  • Coordinate promotional efforts, partnerships, and event visibility/scheduling

  • Help cultivate and manage sponsorship relationships

Strategic Growth and Development:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Goodness Officer on long-term program expansion

  • Evaluate program performance and identify growth opportunities

  • Develop systems that allow both enterprises to scale responsibly

  • Ensure backend infrastructure supports frontline workforce development efforts

Collaboration:

The Program Lead reports directly to the Chief Goodness Officer and works collaboratively to

  • Prepare annual and multi-year budgets

  • Review financial health and growth strategy

  • Evaluate program effectiveness

  • Strengthen operational excellence

  • Advance mission aligned expansion

Qualifications:

  • Strong financial and business management skills

  • Experience managing budgets

  • Strategic thinker with operational leadership skills

  • Strong organizational and systems building ability

  • Marketing or sponsorship development experience preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
