MANDY KILGORE

Mandy has been actively serving the homeless community for years here in our beautiful city of Huntsville, Alabama.  She first fell in love with homelessness while flying back and forth to Dallas, TX and working inside a dental clinic that served the needs of the homeless.  It was during that time that Mandy realized her true calling and, since that time, she has actively served and passionately loved the most despised, outcast in our city. At times, this calling can seem so hopeless. In 2018, Mandy began shifting her acts of service to more of a solution-based, hand up approach. This eventually led her to found Community of Hope, where she is also President and Chief Goodness Officer.

Mandy & Chas were married in 2020, and together have four beautiful children Ben (19), Jaycee (16) Finley (10), and Sawyer (5).  In her spare time, Mandy loves to hike and seasonally leads a hiking community group at her home church, Essential Church.  She also enjoys time singing, camping, mountain biking, working out, travelling, music, and spending time with her family.

"Our homeless population is growing here in Huntsville. We know our homeless brothers and sisters sleep on our streets with little to no hope of finding a place they can call home. We plan to change that with a residential community and a community based approach to restore hope to the hopeless. We are pressing into God's calling for us to make a difference, a true difference in our homeless friends lives. Together, we can bring the home - join us!"

KAREN NABORS

Over the past several years God has been challenging Karen Nabors to just say β€˜yes’. In February of 2018, Karen said yes to a seemingly simple task: notarizing a lease for a homeless friend that was in desperate need of housing.  However, that one interaction led to a lifestyle of service and fierce passion for our homeless friends. Since February of 2018, Karen has actively served the streets, and, too, has been seeking a way to be a true difference maker.

Karen visited Austin, Texas in November of 2018 with the rest of the Community of Hope team, and they found a model worthy of replicating here in Huntsville.  Karen serves as the Vice President of Operations and is passionate about providing exceptional holistic care for our residents.

Karen is a Huntsville native and loved so well by her husband, Jerry, of 31 years.  She has two beautiful daughters, Autumn and Miranda, a wonderful son-in-law, Michael, and, most recently, a beloved grandson, Ian.  In her spare time, Karen loves to travel, hike, and spend time with family.

Chase Allen

Upon moving to Huntsville six years ago, Chase sought a practical way to serve his new city in a meaningful way. His heart broke upon learning of the homelessness crisis and seeing firsthand the obstacles faced by those experiencing homelessness, including loneliness and a loss of hope. He has served alongside Mandy, Karen and others for a number of years to solve homelessness in Huntsville. It is his hope that those experiencing homelessness will continue to find community and discover a renewed hope in the years to come.

Raised in Mississippi, Chase and his wife, Kayela, moved to California after college to attend seminary. Upon completing seminary, they moved to Huntsville to help start Essential Church. Chase and Kayela have two daughters, Eleanor and Amelia, with a third daughter, Harriet, on the way.
